Trash Trash is kept in wooden bins, near the street. This prevents animals from tipping the cans. We have dogs, skunks, turkeys, deer etc. WEDNESDAY IS TRASH DAY. All you do is get the trash to the barrels by Tuesday nights, and before departure on Saturday. My next door neighbor has a stack of trash stickers, and will put them on the cans Tuesday night or very early Wednesday morning. Vineyard Haven sells these trash stickers as their way to pay for trash removal. The system works quiet well. Aluminum cans can be brought back to Cronig's market for refund, using a "reverse" vending machine. Insert a can into the hole, cans are counted, and gives you a receipt for money inside. Beer and coke bottles can be returned at the Oak Bluffs liquor stores. Recycling of all kinds happens at the dump, high on the hill, just beyond the putt-putt golf course across from Cronig's Market. A facinating place, with a great view of Lake Tashmoo, and Woods Hole beyond.
